With 12 years experience with DC Assault, Inc. that includes a wide range of basketball and mentoring experience Mike Sumner contributes in many facets to the organization. Mike has experience as a High School Basketball standout, where he led his team to the state championship game; as a Mentor, he works with underprivileged kids for several mentoring services in Maryland and Washington DC.

This year Mike moved into an executive position with the organization as Assistant to the Director of Basketball Operations. He will assist in daily operations, as well as player evaluations, counseling, tutorial placement, and academic enhancement, he will review grade reports, and evaluate all academic issues, and SAT preparations for our players.

Mike earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice in 1990 from American University. While at American Mike was a four  starter for the Basketball Team. Currently, he is employed at a Charter School in Washington, DC as Physical Education Teacher for their Middle School, KIPP DC:Key Academy.  Mike is Head Coach of their basketball team.

Mike resides in Fort Washington, Maryland with is Wife Kimberly, and son Michael Jr. His hobbies are watching and playing basketball, football, and boxing.
